The Prevention Agenda

Because an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I wanted to share my editorial that was published in the Saturday Edition of the Miami Herald.

Re to the April 26th letter Miami: A ‘green’ leader: While the city of Miami is making progress toward going green, residents are way behind. As an educator, environmentalist and entrepreneur I know we can be doing much more to create a sustainable city. I am often amazed at just how much trash lines our city streets, and the many residents who do not recycle or catch rainwater.

After participating in Earth Day festivals for three consecutive years I believe that residents in Miami are all talk and no action! We are still a consumer-oriented city, and many people don’t care where their trash ends up. So many items could be recycled or donated.

As the rest of the nation embraces the “green” movement, my only hope is that we go green, too.

Be well,
